One minute to understand the development history of LED lights

Lamps, lighting supplies, generally refer to appliances that can be illuminated. The historical source of the lamp should start with torches in ancient times. Secondly, the first revolution of lamps was the "oil lamp", and the evolution of oil lamps was from kerosene lamps, bronze lamps, celadon lamps to lanterns, oil lanterns, and foreign oil lamps. Then came the second revolution "electric light", the evolution of electric light from incandescent lamp and halogen lamp to fluorescent lamp and steam lamp. Finally, LED semiconductor lighting, the transition from LED energy-saving lamps to fluorescent lamps.
1. The development history of kerosene lamps
The kerosene lamp started from the exploitation of oil. The oil lamp allowed mankind to transition from barbarism to civilization. The oil lamp lasted for centuries. Before the popularization of kerosene lamps, people usually used candles for lighting. There are two types of candles, animal fatty oil and paraffin wax. Animal oil is not often available, and the burning is unstable, and the odor is heavy and quickly consumed. The cost of stone candles is very high, which is three times that of ordinary lighting. In the 19th century, with the use of coal, people discovered that coal tar can be extracted from coal by distillation. This refined kerosene has a very good combustion effect, a strong light source, and extremely stable light. However, due to technical limitations, the cost is still very high even for large-scale refining, so burning kerosene at the beginning is a very extravagant behavior.
It was not until 1859 that George Bisle of the United States discovered oil in Pennsylvania and drilled the first oil well. The oil extracted from the well was a viscous blue liquid. This liquid was not allowed by any means. It is used as fuel, so Bissell purifies the oil. The early purified gasoline was released because it could not be stored. The kerosene lamp extracted from this kind of petroleum is not only bright, but the cost is also very low, much lower than the kerosene extracted from coal. Therefore, in three months, hundreds of drilling towers popped up in the place where Bissell was extracting oil, and more than 15,000 people gathered in this pit. From the discovery of oil in Bisle, in less than a year, the United States produced more than 2,000 barrels of oil, one of which was called the Poole Well Drilling Tower, and even more than 3,000 barrels were produced the following year. By 1861, a barrel of oil had fallen from 10 dollars to only 10 cents. This cheap oil has brought lighting to the world.
2. the development history of electric lights
The electric light was invented by the famous inventor Edison and became a breakthrough in the history of lamps and lanterns.

  • Incandescent lamp: The tungsten filament is the invention of American scientist Corridge, which improves the brightness and service life of the incandescent lamp. The advantages are: low cost, relatively wide working voltage range, and convenience. For example: flashlight, console lighting.
  • Tungsten halogen lamp: Based on the incandescent lamp, the life of the lamp is improved by one layer, and the volume is small, but the gas that reenters the high pressure is more expensive; its main application range is wider, such as: stage lighting effects, Motor vehicle lighting, spotlights, spotlights, etc.
  • Fluorescent lamp: The production principle of fluorescent lamp is to use gas discharge to generate light energy. Its advantages are longer service life, 75% energy saving, higher luminous efficiency, and changeable light color. It completely replaces incandescent lamps and is widely used in life.
  • Steam lamp: The steam lamp seals the steam of various elements in a glass tube and then emits light with an electric current. Its advantages are very high light efficiency, two times the service life of fluorescent lamps, 10 times that of tungsten halogen lamps, and more energy-saving .
  • Induction lamp: Induction lamp is another form of fluorescent lamp, but it needs special electronic circuit device, and it is also widely used now.
3,the development history of LED semiconductor lighting
After the 21st century, the development process of white light LED is rapid, and its luminous efficiency is increasing faster and faster, surpassing incandescent lamps and declaring war on fluorescent lamps. Whether it is material technology, chip size or shape technology, it has further developed, making it commercialized. The luminous flux of the LED lamp has been increased by several tens of times. This also indicates that the lamps and lanterns of the future will move towards LED.
LED lamps are light-emitting diodes, which use solid semiconductor chips as luminescent materials. Compared with traditional lamps, LED lamps are energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and have good color rendering and response speed. In terms of energy consumption, the energy consumption of LED lamps is one-tenth that of incandescent lamps and one-fourth that of energy-saving lamps. This is one of the biggest features of LED lights. People nowadays advocate energy saving and environmental protection. It is precisely because of this feature of energy saving that the application range of LED lights is very wide, making LED lights very popular. Luminous efficiency is the ratio of luminous flux to electric power, and the unit is generally lm/W. Luminous efficiency represents the energy-saving characteristics of the light source, which is an important indicator to measure the performance of modern light sources. MCWOFI’s lamps are all LED lamps, with higher luminous efficiency and luminous flux than all lamps of the same type on the market. For example, this LED loading dock light is an industrial light with large volume and heavy weight. The arm can be up to 40-60 inches, the wattage is 30W/50W/60W, and the luminous efficiency and luminous flux are as high as 120lm. /W.
